Disappointing food adventure

For my hour lunch; I decided to venture on over to a food cart pod about 15 mins. away from my office. I had pretty high hopes in getting something delicious; so when I got there I was a little disappointed because only about 4-5 of them was open so there wasn't many options. I decided to try out this Pupusa place since there seemed to be a line, and that usually means it's something to check out! The people who worked there were super nice, and the lady recommended a dish she said was pretty popular amongst the regulars there. So I decided to give her suggestion a try. As I was waiting for it; I decided to walk to the next cart over which was a Filipino cart, and get some Lumpia and Halo Halo dessert since it was such a super HOT day again.

After getting my food; I skipped along back to my car excitingly anticipating about the goodies I had in hand. First up was the Pupusa; right when I opened the to go box up... I was quite disappointed; nothing exciting about this one; no flavor. I wouldn't get this again.

The Lumpia's came next and quite honestly; I was not impressed either... It was also quite bland, and the sauce was mediocre.

By this time; I wasn't really excited about the Halo Halo dessert now... The ice was chunky, and like the other two; it was bland and nothing real exciting. The only thing enticing about it was the ice cream on top (which was melting rapidly due to the HOTNESS!)

I wasn't a happy foodie after this food venture. I was quite surprised as I haven't had much bad experience with food carts before; I guess you win some and you lose some eh?

Owell; at least I had a yummy breakfast this morning when I made a Veggie bagel w/tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, fresh cracked pepper , and homemade cream cheese w/chives on a multi grain bagel YUM!

Have you experienced bad foodie adventures?

  1. Sadly, yep. It's usually with hyped up food trucks. :\ At least your breakfast was delish! :D

(Yes, check out the Focus Store the next time you're in town!)

  2. That's such a shame that nothing tasted good. Usually food trucks are so tasty. Just last weekend, I was disappointed with this food truck that the Los Angeles Times said had the best fried chicken. ):

The halo halo looks nothing like the halo halo I'm used to getting. o:

  3. @ Shop N'Chomp: Portland is pretty notorious for it's Food Carts, and I normally get some yummy goodies... unfortunately that day was just an off day. I will definitely check that store out the next time I'm in town, thanks!

@ Clara Turbay: Thanks for stopping by =)

@ Audrey (hkittygirl): I know right! Maybe the bad food truck experience were plagued by the extreme HOT weather? I was rather disappointed by the halo halo myself... when it was handed to me; I didn't really know what to make of it =/

    Thanks for stopping by =)

  5. I'm a big-time foodie and I totally understand when things get hyped up and all you get are disappointments. I love food trucks/carts but sometimes I feel like they're so over-priced for the quality of food you get. I have found ones I enjoy but it's not all of them. :)

  6. I dislike being disappointed with new food adventures! I think that's why I always end up ordering the same things, since at least I know I'll like them. The ice cream looked good on top at least =)

    1. @ Suzie Q: I can't agree more =) I'm a foodie rebel though; I like to try new things, which leaves me disappointed sometimes, but that's a part of being a foodie rebel =D

  7. I think that food carts are way too hyped up. They used to be great, but now that there's so many (at least where I live) they're just not that good and really not that cheap either. Sucks when you have a bad experience though, especially when you are expecting it to be good.

The bagel looks delish! I need something like that right now!
